Olymp’Arts originated from Mount Olympus. From year 566 BCE, artists in ancient Greece gathered to compete in various domains of art. This brought forward the progression of art in Greece, and became what to be of Olymp’Arts. The glorious culture of Greece are the treasure of mankind and has an impact on all of us.
Since World Olymp’Arts Council held the launching conference of OLYMP’ARTS 2023 in the headquarter of United Nations in Geneva on June 29, the activity attracted attentions from over 170 nations and its artists. World Olymp’Arts Council received positive feedbacks from Greece for promoting this great heritage Olymp’Arts of not only in Greece but a Global mission for all mankind.
On 8 December, World Olymp’Arts Council held its Greece Online Conference and made discussion with cultural figures of importance in Greece. Dr Epaminondas Christophilopoulos, The UNESCO Chair on Futures Research at the Institute of Technology and Research (FORTH), Mrs. Maria Tsantsanoglou, the Director of the State Museum of Contemporary Art (Thessaloniki), Mr. Philippos Tsalahouris, the Deputy Director and Professor at Athens Conservatoire and Mr. Dimitriios Foukis, Head of Head of the Public Diplomacy Office' of the Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai, attended the conference and delivered speeches.
In the conference, Mr. Marc Verriere, the Founding President of the World Olymp’Arts Council, made the opening remark, in which he recounted how World Olymp’Arts Council was established in 1995 under the support of UNESCO and IOC Congress 1994. Dr Epaminondas Christophilopoulos based his speech on how Olymp’Arts can connect with technology to present art in new forms. Mrs. Maria Tsantsanoglou, representing the State Museum of Contemporary Art (Thessaloniki), gave a warm welcome to Olymp’Arts, hope to cooperate in various terms. Professor Philippos Tsalahouris addressed the importance of Olymp’Arts in cultural terms and made strategic points on the progress of the project. Mr. Dimitriios Foukis, Head ofthe Public Diplomacy Office' of the Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai, expressed his expectation to Olymp’Arts. The Executive President of the World Olymp’Arts Council, Ms. Rachel Qin, delivered the closing remarks, in which she announced that there is going to be a launching ceremony in 2023 in Greece for the first edition of Olymp’Arts. In China, World Olymp’Arts Council (Switzerland) Beijing Representative Office has involved the participation of Embassy in Beijing and the General Consulate in Shanghai of Greece in this online conference.
The Greece Conference is the first event in connection with Greece. More events will be help for further talks on the origin and spirits of art contests in ancient Greece and how to present Olymp’Arts in new ways with modern technologies to serve it as an international platform for cultural communication. With the launching ceremony next year, more artists, experts and scholars will be involved with Olymp’Arts to execute the values and the missions of Olymp’Arts.
