The origin of Olymp’Arts traces back to Mount Olympus in ancient Greece. Ever since 6 B.C., artists from Greece gathered to have contests in art, in music, poetry, etc. The contests were a tremendous art gathering in Greece, while also become the origin of Olymp’Arts. The contests later made its way to ancient Rome and became a part of the Roman culture.
World Olymp’Arts Council was established in 1995 in the UNESCO headquarter, with the mission of reviving the art contests of ancient Greece and light up the world with art. Since the WOAC held the launching ceremony in the UN headquarter of the Olymp’Arts Gala 2023, the event attracted attentions from artists from more than 170 countries.
The WOAC held its Olymp’Arts 2023 Italy Online Session today, and discussions were made between important figures of art and culture from Italy on topics of art and humanity, art and Italy, Olymp’Arts Gala 2023. The Founding President of WOAC, Marc Verriere, and Emilio Isgro, prominent Italian artist, took part in the session, among many distinguished guests.
The Session was coordinated and hosted by Michele Genovese, the President of the Advisory Committee of WOAC. Marc Verriere delivered speech via video, in which he recounted the vision and mission of WOAC while also pointed out the challenges, and emphasized once again the role art plays in the progress of humanity, and invited all guests and artists from Italy to take part. Thereafter, Rachel Qin, the Executive President of WOAC, and Linda Xu, the Deputy Secretary, also delivered speeches on the relation of ancient Olymp’Arts to Roman culture and the preparation of Olymp’Arts Gala 2023.
Prominent artists and directors of art associations also took part in the Session. Emilio Isgro, the distinguished artist from Italy, gave his speech in praise of the work WOAC is doing to make the world a more harmonious place through art, and expects Olymp’Arts Gala 2023 to have a positive impact on world peach and progress. Dr. Emanuele Barreca, DG COMP of European Commissions, then delivered his speech in regards to technology and art. He specified how technology has always been pushing art forward and suggested Olymp’Arts Gala to focus on technology as it in this way will have the potential to be a pioneering platform of art constantly. Sare Del Bene, the President of Well-Being ArT Work, Silvia Romaniello, the President of RE.LEG.ART, Gerardo Lo Russo, former Director of Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Francisco Córdoba, President & Founder,Utopia Associazione Culturale, and Dalia Gallica, founder of ArtLab also gave their speeches on the significance of Olymp’Arts from various aspects while also giving their full support to Olymp’Arts Gala and WOAC.
The Italy Session is one of the cultural events of the WOAC recently. Shortly before, the WOAC held its Greece Session and reached strategic partnership with Yunus Emre Institute of Turkiye. The WOAC will have more events in preparation of the Olymp’Arts Gala 2023, and Rachel Qin, the Executive President, will visit Greece, Turkiye, Italy and Switzerland soon to make concrete cooperations on behalf of WOAC with authorities, associations and artists, in order to pave way for a successful Olymp’Arts Gala 2023.
