Connecting Asia Through Art | WOAC Official Representative Attends the Opening Ceremony of the “Children from Asia” Special Exhibition in Tokyo

On September 28, 2026, the special project of the 61st Asian Modern Art Exhibition — the “Children from Asia” Special Art Exhibition — grandly opened at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. Mr. Tetsuo Takada, President of the Asia Art Association of Japan, and Mr. Zhongping Lü, Vice President, attended the opening ceremony; Olivier Grandjean, a member of the Executive Committee of the World Olymp’Arts Council (WOAC), attended the event as the official representative of WOAC.

As an important special section of the 61st Asian Modern Art Exhibition, this special exhibition was organized by the Asia Art Association, with WOAC deeply involved as a co-organizer. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge throughout its duration. With “My Favourite …” as its creative theme, the exhibition brings together hundreds of children’s artworks from different countries and regions across Asia. The children picked up their brushes to depict the people, nature, and everyday scenes they love, recording their unique observations of the world from a childlike perspective. Each artwork is filled with sincere emotion and boundless imagination.

At the opening ceremony, Olivier Grandjean delivered a speech on behalf of WOAC. He stated that art is a universal language that requires no translation, and children’s creations are among its purest and most moving forms of expression. We often speak of cultural exchange and dialogue among civilizations, while today, these young creators are using their brushes to achieve the most sincere form of cross-cultural communication. During the event, Olivier Grandjean held in-depth discussions with President Tetsuo Takada, Vice President Zhongping Lü, and other participating guests on topics including the development of children’s art and cross-cultural artistic cooperation. Together, they promoted the successful organization of the exhibition and exchanged views on further cooperation in the field of youth art.

The honorary certificates for all award-winning children in this exhibition were officially presented by the World Olymp’Arts Council, formally recognizing the children’s creative thinking and artistic expression, and leaving a solemn encouragement and record for their artistic growth. The World Olymp’Arts Council has always upheld the principles of public welfare, openness, and inclusiveness, and has long been committed to building an international art platform for young people. We firmly believe that children’s art can sow the seeds of peace and friendship for the future, allowing every talent to be seen and every dream to be respected.

Looking toward the future, WOAC will continue to work closely with the Asia Art Association to further develop youth art education and cross-cultural exchange, creating more international platforms for young Asian artists to showcase their work. The “Children from Asia” Special Art Exhibition will remain open to the public free of charge until October 4, alongside the 61st Asian Modern Art Exhibition. WOAC also looks forward to further deepening cooperation in 2027 and jointly promoting the development of youth art in Asia.
